Kids in the Morning

Alina has a smartphone now - an Android. It's been fun to snap more "on the fly" photos although it is interesting to also note that sometimes, the big camera just doesn't come out as often.

Every morning, Steve departs for work early, before anyone is awake. Steve leaves a small snack and water bottles in the hallway for the kids so that when they wake up, they have something to munch on. This tradition started when Elliott was little and Alina was nursing Rosemary. Elliott would wake up and need a snack but Alina was in the middle of nursing and didn't want to have to run downstairs.

Fast forward to today - the snack is there, the kids are happy, Alina is happy, the mornings are a little more smooth.  Elliott and Gretchen are the two earliest risers in the group.  They like to grab their snacks, bring their blankies, and crawl in to bed with Alina.

This does create some crumbs in the sheets sometimes! But, the peaceful mornings are well worth it.
