'Twas the Night Before Christmas

Our Christmas Eve ended with reading The Night Before Christmas to the kids which we bought at Elliott's first Christmas and have packed away as a keepsake each year. The last 2 weeks, we have crossed off the days on the calendar, counting down to Christmas. Elliott's and Rosemary's excitement has been building and building every day as more gifts from friends and family pile up under the tree.

When Alina asked the kids to pose in front of their gifts, they could not stand still due to so much excitement!

Early in the day, Steve took the kids to the local sledding hill. Elliott and Rosemary had a blast sliding down the hill. Unfortunately, Steve fell and hurt his wrist, which he later discovered to be fractured after a late-night visit to the E.R. After sledding, Steve helped the kids build their first snowman of the year in the front yard, complete with ballcap and sunglasses.

After a (failed) naptime (ha ha), we put together a chocolate fondue for the kids.

We all had fun dipping fruit and bread in the dark chocolate while listening to Christmas Music on Pandora.

Rosemary eventually covered herself in so much dripped chocolate, we removed her sweater for easier wipe up!

We all piled in the van and attended a holiday service at church, then returned home and each opened one gift before putting the kids to bed. We made sure to put out cookies and milk for Santa.

Gretchen tagged along to everything but no good pictures of her in this batch! That is likely because if Gretchen is awake she is often in Alina's arms, so therefore Alina is not taking photos. Here's a cute picture of her playing with her mobile. She loves to kick her legs and bat her arms around while looking at the swirling cones and listening to the music!

PS: Could not get the photos to load... will try again later...
