We started the festivities with cupcakes (frosted by Alina) and mini gluten free pizzas (Steve's own recipe).
Tables on our patio gave everyone a place to sit and munch. Lots of My Little Pony decorations to keep the theme front and center.
Rosemary and Gretchen both made sure their nails and toes were nicely painted for the day.
Soon we were on to backyard games like duck-duck-goose and hot potato.
Once again our kid-friend backyard comes in handy with 14 kids running around... between the swing set, mini-trampoline, and other kid-friend backyard toys, everyone stayed happily busy.
Upon arrival, each guest received a name tag with their official Pony Name. Rosemary picked the names for each guess: of course, she picked Princess Celestia for herself. Other names included: Rainbow Dash, Princess Luna, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Shining Armour, Apple Jack.... While Googling for names, Steve discovered an entire sub-culture of adults who gather to re-enact the My Little Pony world (we're not kidding).
The bigger kids formed a birthday train, led by the birthday girl.
Here's what happens when the birthday girl's little sister hasn't had a nap.
As a few guests were departing, Alina remembered to snap a group picture. So glad to remember while all the guests were still here.
The party moved inside with pin-the-tail-on-the-cutie-mark. Rosemary went first.
Onlookers plot their strategy.
Even Gretchen had her turn. She wore the hat and mask on her head and scrunched up her eyes.
To add to the ambiance, we set out all the My Little Ponies and put all the normal toys away. Smart move when 14 kids are breezing through the playroom.
As the party died down, Rosemary opened her gifts with help from a few friends.
Gretchen helped.
This was definitely one of the most fun birthday parties we've had yet. Happy 5th Birthday Rosemary!
