Our Easter Weekend 2011 began with an Easter Egg hunt in our backyard. The day was blustery but sunny. Elliott and Rosemary crept around the yard, looking for the brightly colored eggs, which stood out among the early spring yellows, browns and greens.
Most of the eggs were hidden at toddler-height or lower.
The kids did a great job working together and sharing the egg bounty.
Big pile of eggs = lots of excitement!
Our other pre-Easter activity involved dying the hard-boiled eggs. Elliott and Rosemary remembered this activity from past years. Gretchen happily sat in the high chair, watching the action while gnawing on plastic eggs.
This year, in addition to one packet of the traditional egg dye, we tried an "all natural" egg dye, which took longer to coat the eggs. The extra waiting time added to the anticipation for the kids and created nice breaks for nursing Gretchen or talking with the kids about the rest of our Easter traditions.
Rosemary squealed with excitement when she saw the bright purple and pink eggs emerge (her favorite colors).
The kids excitement is contagious!
On Easter Morning, Elliott and Rosemary arrived downstairs to find the Easter bunny had dropped off a few goodies in their baskets.
Gretchen had a chance to explore her 1st Easter basket, too.
Elliott's chocolate bunny proved to be his favorite item.
Rosemarily happily discovered each plastic egg contained.... C A N D Y!!
Happy Easter 2011!
