To celebrate the impending arrival of the bundle of joy... Alina helped Leah's mom throw a baby shower for Leah and Kris. We took our first road trip in our minivan to attend the shower as a family. We finally revealed to our kids the fact that our minivan has a drop-down TV in the ceiling! Wow, the kids were amazed.
Alina considered flying alone with Gretchen. The older kids would have enjoyed a Daddy-only weekend but Gretchen goes where Alina goes since Alina is nursing. Flights were much too expensive.
Leah's mom ordered a delicious cassata cake from an authenic Italian bakery. This cake is a favorite of Leah's family.
At the party, Elliott found his "new best friend". These 2 four year olds were hip-to-hip during the entire party. Here they are, trying to keep their fingers out of the beckoning frosting on that cake...
Speaking of cakes, Leah's friend Jackie made an adorable diaper cake.
Gretchen and Rosemary enjoyed meeting so many new people.
Besides a few traditional baby shower games, Alina also set up two activities: decorate the onesie and create a ready-made scrapbook page. Kris's dad, Steve and Nana got into the action.
Kris's mom happily decorated a onesie alongside Leah and her good friends Jackie and Kimmy.

Leah's baby likes to move a lot. "Hello Baby!"
Leah and Kris live far away so many gifts were shipped... however they still unwrapped a pretty good pile. It's always fun to watch new parents open baby gifts... their eyes widen as they wonder "exactly how much baby gear does one baby need?" (answer: A LOT)
Leah and Kris are Rosemary's godparents. we tried to capture a nice group picture. Elliott flat out refused to pose. We had to bribe him heavily....
This trip was a wonderful opportunity for us all to spend fun times together! Can't wait to meet the new baby later this year!
