Our Pawn Shop Find...

Steve has wanted to play video games in HD ever since he bought himself a PlayStation 3. We finally decided to explore the world of HD.... Alina started searching on Craig's List, like any good bargain shopper, offering 25% lower than list price on a 37" HD TV.

The reply came from a Pawn Shop who had listed the item on Craig's List.

"Sure we'll take your money if you show up in the next 30 min" so off Steve goes with the kids in the van to pick up the new TV.

The kids were beside themselves with excitement. It's amazing how often that level of excitement happens with toddlers.

Here they are, mesmerized by watching Blue's Clues in HD.

Gretchen's birth ushered in the era of more TV-watching for our family. Being outnumbered throughout the dead of winter = more TV. Now that summer is here we are able to use TV as a tool when we really need it, like nights when Steve is at his church group and Alina is nursing Gretchen to sleep from 7pm-8pm. Anytimes when you are outnumbered by the little people 3-to-1, TV becomes your secret weapon.

We do not have cable but we subscribe to Netflix on-demand which is $7.99 per month. We have a huge array of movies and TV shows at our fingertips, which can also be played over the computer, too.

Here's the old TV and the new TV: Quite a difference!

We're still deciding what to do with our old TV. Right now, we moved it to our finished basement with the idea of creating a "video game" nook. Our kids do not play video games (yet) although they both like to play Angry Birds on Alina's Android phone. Maybe Santa will bring us a Wii this year!
