Our sweet girl turned 2 in the middle of a very busy week! Alina worked 12 hour days leading her project team through UAT while Steve had equally busy time at work. Somehow, we all managed to gather for an hour after dinner to enjoy cupcakes with our bright and vivacious two-year-old.
Of course we pulled out our birthday hats that we've been using since Elliott turned 1. In the wee hours of the morning, before Alina left for work, she hung up our "Happy Birthday" streamers, too... the birthday girl had been counting down the days until her birthday.
Gretchen had cards to open and exciting packages to unwrap from relatives and family friends.
She had one very excited and helpful older brother who was glad to show her the ropes. Her older sister was not as helpful because Rosemary was very disappointed that it wasn't her birthday. Yes, birthdays can be hard for the non-birthday toddlers in the room....
Gretchen took her package unwrapped very seriously. Our independent and capable 2 year old has been dressing herself completely since she was 11 months old, speaking in paragraphs since she was 13 months, and planning her own agenda since the day she was born. In fact, Gretchen throws the most eloquent tantrums we've ever seen, complete with detailed explanations of why she is angry and what everyone should do it make her feel better.
Gretchen's holding the 2-dollar bills she received as a gift. Very cute! Happy birthday Gretchen!
