Alina took the girls to our neighborhood Easter Egg hunt. The little ones (age 3 and under) have a few minutes on the field before the big kids are let loose. Each family donates 1 dozen eggs per participating child. Candy included.
Rosemary was very excited! Gretchen didn't remember egg hunts from last year but she loves to do whatever Rosemary is doing. Game on.
Gretchen spent at least 30 seconds examining her first egg, shaking it, asking me to open it. Finally she understood that each brightly colored egg had CANDY inside! Bingo!
Rosemary helped her little sister spot and find eggs.
The two of them did quite well. Once Rosemary hit her quota, she switched into "nice big sister mode" and really did help Gretchen. Love it when the girls are being cute together.
After the egg hunt, Alina was prepared for round 2 -- the arrival of the Easter Bunny. Rosemary tore across the field, away from the Easter Bunny, because she is still very afraid of costumed figures. In fact, a recent birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese translated into a scene from a horror movie, at least according to Rosemary... when the big mouse appeared, Rosemary screeched and leaped out of her seat at the table into Alina's arms.
Gretchen was more interested in the Bunny so Alina escorted her over to pick up a lollipop while Rosemary stayed safe behind a boulder. We'll definitely need to wait for any trips to Disneyland until Rosemary is over her fear of costumed figures!
