The Bunny was here! Gretchen's basket is the larger yellow one, Rosemary's is pink in the middle, and Elliott's is yellow on the end. Some things the bunny brought: plastic boat and soft monkey for Gretchen, invisible ink, spaceships and bugs for the bigger kids.
The kids ran in to the room to see their baskets! Elliott scrutinized his basket. Rosemary helped Gretchen look at everything and open the plastic eggs.
Gretchen already has chocolate on her mouth!
Steve showed the kids how to use the invisible ink.
Easter morning at our house is a two-part affair. Phase 2 is the Easter egg hunt. Last year, we were bundled in winter coats. This year, we wore sun dresses! We had a beautiful Spring Day that was actually almost summer-like. The weather has been so warm in March that by now... the tulips, lilys, and lilacs are all in full bloom. Usually our lilacs do no bloom until Mother's Day.
We lined up by the lilacs for a group photo.
Elliott was very resistant to the group photo. Rosemary followed suit. Hard to tell that minutes before everyone was laughing and smiling in the yard.
Mmm, lovely lilacs. They fill our whole yard with fragrant aroma.
The kids eagerly hunted for eggs, which we stashed under plants, tucked in to nooks, plopped in flowerpots, and balanced in the crook of the bush branches.
Alina and Uncle Joel picked out all the crocuses, tulips, daffodils, and other spring-blooming bulb plants last year. It was wonderful to have all this bright color in the yard.
Elliott marveled us by finding the sneakiest eggs!
Gretchen knew just want to do after her first hunt in the neighborhood.
We even pulled out the video camera to capture the kids in action. Happy Easter!
